I memorized Chopin's Nocturne in E flat as teenager and loved playing that piece. Transcendent, timeless melodies warm the heart in a special way, and this is my hope as I compose.

I would describe the sustain pedal as generously used, and held down for several measures where the arpeggiated left hand chords are consistent for a stretch and can ring together. There are plenty of times when the sustain pedal is lifted and then held back down, as I was just feeling the sounds of the chords and melodies symbolizing the ocean. The Lord inspired me to compose Scripture inspired piano and instrumental music twenty-three years ago. My very first composition was titled "Grace and Truth" from John 1:14, and now there are about 170 works. "Open Spaces" is special to me because the music is expressing the wonder and adventure of walking with God found in Psalm 119:45, "And I’ll stride freely through wide open spaces as I look for your truth and your wisdom..."
